What does the Course include?
Spinal anatomy and back care principles.
Understanding of all relevant legal issues surrounding the movement of people.
Risk Assessment - What is it, why we do it, how we do it and how we record it.
Understanding and use of all hoisting equipment including lifting and standing hoists, tracking
systems, all bathing aids, etc.
Selection and prescription of appropriate hoists and slings.
Teaching styles and techniques and methods of delivering a course to staff groups.
All course materials and handout packs.
Regulations and Standards
In accordance with Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
Complies with Care Standards Act and TOPSS training requirements in National Minimum
Standards.
Follows standards advised by National Back Exchange.
Follows professional guidelines from Royal College of Nursing and Chartered Society of
Physiotherapists.
Certificate
Will enable you to teach safe Moving and Handling principles and techniques in your place of work.
The awarding of the certificate is not necessarily automatic. A certain standard of knowledge and teaching skills must be achieved, and there will be an assignment to complete between the two sets of dates.
